Abstract:

Purpose: The study addresses the gap in logistics research on supply chain redesign by proposing an Intuitive/ Heuristic approach supported by simulation and quantitative analysis for constructing alternatives/variants of the supply chain and then evaluation with the application of MCDM methods. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study uses intuitive design techniques, computational simulation and Multiple Criteria Decision Making methodology. Findings: Supply chain redesign can be formulated as a Multiple Criteria Ranking Problem which can be solved with the application of MCDM methods. Practical Implications: The proposed supply chain redesign addresses a variety of aspects that should be taken into account while redesigning the supply chain and allows for the selection of the most desirable variant of the supply chain consistent with the expectations and preferences of the decision maker (DM). Originality/Value: The study contributes to logistics research in a supply chain redesign based on intuitive simulation and multiple criteria ranking methods.
